Getting started

This guide takes you from a new account to your first results. You need an email address. A server is only needed for the PowerMTA steps; everything else works without one.

1. Create your account

Sign up with your email address (or Google) and confirm the code we send you. Every account belongs to one person. We recommend turning on two-factor authentication in Security straight away.

2. Try the checks that need nothing

You can learn a lot before connecting anything:

  • Run the blacklist check on a sending IP or domain.
  • Run the DNS authentication check on a domain you send from.
  • Run the SMTP server check on a mail server to see its greeting and TLS certificate.

The free tools work without an account. Signed in, you get higher limits, history and monitors.

3. Add a domain

Add the domain you send from. You can connect your DNS provider so we can publish records for you, or use manual mode and copy each record. Read DNS records explained if SPF, DKIM and DMARC are new to you.

4. Connect a server

To install PowerMTA, connect a fresh server. See Adding a server for what we need and the checks we run first, then the PowerMTA install guide.

5. Set up monitoring

Add your sending IPs and domains as monitors and choose where alerts go: email, Slack, Discord, Teams, Telegram or a signed webhook. When something changes you hear about it with the fix.

Limits and credits

What your plan includes (servers, installs, monitors, validation credits) is shown on the pricing page and on your Usage page. Nothing is deducted for an install that fails.
