Draft pending legal review

This text is a working draft and has not been reviewed by a lawyer. It is not final and may change before launch.

Acceptable use policy

Version 2026-10-04-draft · Last updated 4 October 2026

This policy applies to everyone who uses the service. It exists because the tools we provide could be misused, and abuse puts every customer at risk.

What you must do

  • Send email only to people who asked for it or who otherwise have a lawful basis to receive it, and honour opt-outs promptly.
  • Follow the laws that apply to you and your recipients, including CAN-SPAM, GDPR and PECR, and CASL.
  • Collect the addresses you validate yourself, with permission.
  • Identify yourself accurately in your messages and publish a working way to unsubscribe where the law requires one.
  • Keep your account secure and tell us at once if you think it has been compromised.

What you must not do

  • Send unsolicited bulk email, or help anyone else send it.
  • Use purchased, rented, harvested or scraped lists, or ask us to validate them.
  • Send phishing, malware, fraud, or content that impersonates another person or organisation.
  • Forge headers, hide the true origin of mail, or evade the controls of mailbox providers.
  • Connect servers or accounts you do not own or are not authorised to manage.
  • Use the service to scan, probe or attack systems you do not own, or to overload them. This includes using the free tools or the SMTP tester against third-party servers beyond reasonable testing.
  • Try to bypass limits, quotas, captchas or security controls, or resell the service without our written agreement.
  • Use the service for illegal content or activity.

Reports and enforcement

Anyone can report abuse using the abuse form or at abuse@example-brand.com. We review reports and automatic signals, such as customer IP addresses appearing on critical blocklists soon after setup, unusual bounce rates and many servers created quickly.

Depending on what we find we may add a note, warn you, restrict a feature, suspend the account or terminate it. We tell you the clause that applies where we can, and we may act first when there is an urgent risk to others.

Verification

For some features, such as a first PowerMTA install or many IP addresses, we may ask you to verify your email address, phone number and business details first. New accounts have lower limits for their first weeks.
